Drop store, restaurant, gas or travel receipts and get merchant, date, subtotal, tax, tip, total and line items as CSV or Excel — read on your device, never uploaded.

  • Private by design
  • Lines checked against the total
  • CSV and real .xlsx
  • Batch up to 25 receipts

Drop receipt PDFs or photos here

PDF, JPG, PNG or HEIC · up to 25 at once · combined into one CSV

Read inside your browser. Files are never uploaded or stored.

No receipt handy? Run a sample — always free, never uses a conversion.

Built for receipts. Not invoices.

Store, restaurant, gas, taxi, hotel and online-order receipts — the things you paid for. If a document asks you to pay by a due date, it's an invoice and belongs in a different tool.

How it works

From a crumpled receipt to a spreadsheet row in seconds

No templates to set up, no account, no inbox forwarding. Just the file and your browser.

  1. 1

Drop receipts or snap a photo

E-mailed PDF receipts, scanned PDFs, or JPG / PNG / HEIC photos from your phone. One file or a batch of 25.

  2. 2

We read it on your device

PDF text is read with pdf.js. Photos and scans go through on-device OCR. We find the merchant, date, totals, tax, tip and the item list.

  3. 3

    Check the rows, download

Preview every row, see whether the lines add up to the receipt, then download CSV or a real .xlsx for Excel or Google Sheets.

Spreadsheet-ready

Columns that drop straight into Sheets, Excel or your expense import

Every line item becomes a row, and the receipt details repeat on each one — so you can filter by merchant, sum tax for the quarter, or pivot by month without lookups. Receipts with only a total become one summary row.

What it handles

Made for the messy receipts people actually keep

Totals are double-checked

Line items are added up and compared with the subtotal or total. Receipts that reconcile get a green “Lines match total” badge; anything off is flagged before you import.

Honest failures, never charged

Password-protected files, blurry photos, invoices and documents without a total are rejected with a plain-English reason — and they don’t use up a conversion.

Long store receipts

Weighed produce (2.14 lb @ 0.69), multi-buys (3 @ 1.25), item codes, tax flags and member savings on grocery and big-box receipts.

US and EU formats

1,234.56 and 1.234,56, MM/DD and DD.MM dates, €/£/$ and MwSt, TVA, IVA, BTW and VAT lines with multiple rates.

Phone photos (best effort)

Photos are read with on-device OCR. It’s good on sharp, flat, well-lit receipts and weaker on faded thermal paper — PDFs are always the most accurate.

CSV and real .xlsx

UTF-8 CSV that opens cleanly in Excel and Google Sheets, plus a native .xlsx with real numbers, real dates and filters switched on.

Who it’s for

Expense tracking without the retyping

Freelancers

Turn a quarter of coffee, fuel, software and travel receipts into one sheet for your Schedule C or accountant.

Bookkeepers

Clean up a client’s shoebox of PDFs and phone pics into rows you can map into an expense import.

Small businesses

Keep a searchable expense log in Excel — merchant, tax and tip on every line — without another subscription suite.

Your receipts stay on your device

Receipts carry card digits, addresses, what you bought and where you were. ReceiptCSV does all the reading in your browser, in memory — the file is never sent to a server, never stored, and never handed to a third-party OCR service.

The first photo you convert downloads the OCR engine (about 6 MB) from this site. After that it's cached.

  • PDFs are parsed with pdf.js inside this tab
  • Photos are read with on-device OCR (Tesseract, served from this site)
  • No file uploads, no document storage, nothing to delete
  • No account, email or signup for the free tier
  • Close the tab and the data is gone
