ReceiptCSV

3 free receipts a day · no signup · files never leave your browser

Build an expense-report spreadsheet from the receipts themselves

You don’t submit a report inside ReceiptCSV, and nobody approves it here. You download one CSV or Excel file — a row per line item, with the merchant, date, tax, tip, and card — and that file is what you filter, total, and attach.

  • Private by design
  • Lines checked against the total
  • CSV and real .xlsx
  • Batch up to 25 receipts

Read inside your browser. Files are never uploaded or stored.

No receipt handy? Run a sample — always free, never uses a conversion.

Built for receipts. Not invoices.

Store, restaurant, gas, taxi, hotel and online-order receipts — the things you paid for. If a document asks you to pay by a due date, it's an invoice and belongs in a different tool.

How to turn a trip’s receipts into one sheet

  1. 1

Gather the files, not photos of photos

E-mailed PDFs from the hotel, the ride, and the restaurant are the accurate inputs. Phone pictures work when paper is all you kept. Mix them in one drop.

  2. 2

Drop up to 25, then read every total

Each receipt shows its merchant, date, and whether the lines match the total. Fix or remove a flagged file before you download. A failure does not spend a conversion.

  3. 3

    Download one combined file

CSV or .xlsx. In Excel, amounts are numbers and the header row has filters. Sort by date or filter to one card.

  4. 4

Add anything your report form asks for

Purpose, project code, and “reimbursable?” are not on a receipt, so they are not in the export. Insert those columns in the spreadsheet. Then email the file or paste it into the form you already use.

Illustrative rows from two bundled samples: dinner at Harbor Lane Bistro (tip included in the 160.02 total) and coffee at Bluebird. A real download repeats subtotal, currency, receipt number, and source_file on every line. Add your own category column — meals, for example — in the spreadsheet.

The details

The columns a report actually needs

Date of purchase, who you paid, what the line was, the line amount, sales tax, tip, grand total, and how you paid. Receipt number is there when the paper prints one. Source file tells you which upload the row came from, which matters once twenty receipts share a sheet.

Tips, tax, and the total you were charged

Restaurant tips that were added to the bill land in the tip column. A “suggested gratuity” table that you didn’t pay is ignored. Tax is the sales tax or VAT printed on the receipt. The total is what you paid. Sum the total column only after you know each receipt repeats that total on every line — otherwise you’ll count the dinner once per dish. Sum the amount column for line items, or filter to one row per source file before summing totals.

What this will not file for you

No manager approval, no per-diem rates, no mileage, no policy warnings, and no PDF cover sheet with a signature line. If you need a corporate expense system, this isn’t it. If you need a spreadsheet your client or employer already accepts, start with the batch CSV and add the columns they asked for. A lighter comparison is on the Expensify alternative page.

How big a report fits in one download

25 files per batch, each up to 20 MB. A longer month is a second batch pasted under the first. Each receipt that converts counts as one conversion: three a day are free, then credits. Samples at the top of the tool are free and are a safe way to see the columns before you use a real receipt.
