ReceiptCSV

Get receipts into Google Sheets without connecting Google

ReceiptCSV does not sign in to Google and does not write to a Sheet for you. It downloads a CSV or a real .xlsx. You import that file with File → Import, and the rows are ordinary spreadsheet cells you can sort, filter, and share.

  • Private by design
  • Lines checked against the total
  • CSV and real .xlsx
  • Batch up to 25 receipts

Drop receipt PDFs or photos here

PDF, JPG, PNG or HEIC · up to 25 at once · combined into one CSV

Read inside your browser. Files are never uploaded or stored.

No receipt handy? Run a sample — always free, never uses a conversion.

Built for receipts. Not invoices.

Store, restaurant, gas, taxi, hotel and online-order receipts — the things you paid for. If a document asks you to pay by a due date, it's an invoice and belongs in a different tool.

How to import a receipt file into Google Sheets

The whole handoff is a download plus Sheets’ own import dialog. There is no add-on to install.
  1. 1

Convert the receipts in this tab

Drop PDFs or photos in the tool above. Check the preview: merchant, date, and total should match the paper before you download.

  2. 2

Download CSV, or .xlsx if you prefer

CSV is UTF-8 with a byte-order mark so Excel is happy; Sheets ignores that mark. The .xlsx file stores amounts as numbers and dates as date cells.

  3. 3

In Sheets, choose File → Import → Upload

Pick the CSV, set the separator to comma, and import. ISO dates (2026-10-01) sort correctly. Amounts are plain numbers with a dot decimal — no $ or € to strip.

  4. 4

Add the columns Sheets won’t invent

There is no category column. Add one yourself (meals, supplies, fuel) and fill it. ReceiptCSV only extracts what is printed on the receipt.

Example rows in the download’s layout, using the bundled coffee-shop sample. The file also includes quantity, unit_price, subtotal, tip, payment_method, receipt_number, and source_file. Tax here is the sales tax printed on the receipt, repeated on every line so a SUMIF still works.

The details

Why there is no Google button

A Sheets connection would mean a Google account, a token, and a place the receipt could be copied. This tool never asks for that. The file stays in the tab until you download it.

If you already live in Sheets, the CSV is the path. If you also open the same file in Excel, the .xlsx download has filters turned on and real date cells.

One row per line item

A coffee receipt with two items becomes two rows. Merchant, date, tax, tip, and total repeat on each row, so you can filter to “Bluebird” without a lookup. A receipt that only prints a total becomes a single “Receipt total” row instead of a blank item list.

Several receipts, one Sheet

Drop up to 25 files at once — PDFs and photos mixed — and import one combined file. The source_file column is how you tell the grocery PDF from the fuel photo. A second batch is another download you paste underneath. See batch receipt to CSV.

What the import will not do

It will not create a Google Form, a pivot for you, or a live link back to the receipt image. It will not categorize expenses. And it will not push rows into QuickBooks. The Sheet is the record you keep.
